Feb 23rd Serving Day
Saturday saw 25 volunteers come together to shower Luxembourg city centre with Acts of Kindness. We gave away free balloons to children, roses to women and the elderly, hot coffee and sandwiches to the homeless.
And all on the coldest Saturday this year. To you who came out, we think you are awesome! Thank you for serving with us, for sharing our vision of loving our city in small but meaningful ways.
Here’s what some of you had to say about the day…
“What I loved was the impact we had on the homeless by providing some basic needs – warm clothing, food, hot coffee. The smiles and joy were priceless and it’s sad we are not always there. However, I believe it goes a long way and these are the good things you remember doing in your life.”

“I love seeing the surprised smiles you see on people’s faces when they receive something. This project is something that makes people happy and I think that’s a great thing… I’ll be there next time!”
– Jill
“Today I’ve been giving away roses in the Luxembourg Park… I remember one elderly gentleman especially – he was walking alone in the park. When we approached him he was very surprised and could not believe the rose was for him. His face was shining and he gave us a big beautiful smile. It was the nicest smile I have ever seen, so genuine and full of gratitude.”

Behind the scenes these last two months we’ve been meeting with local NGOs in Luxembourg to find out how Serve the City can partner with the great work they are already doing. We’re excited about the possibilities! Our next serving day will probably be in mid April, so look out for more information closer to the time.
Until then, keep serving! Keep your eyes open during your day for how you can lend a helping hand, give to someone who has a need, or just put a smile on someone’s face! And share with us on facebook!
