Pampering afternoon at Foyer Sud
The women and children who live at Foyer Sud (CNFL) have not had an easy time. Most are there because they need a place of safety, to recover and rebuild their lives. The amazing staff there work hard to help them back on their feet, find places to live and work, help their children adjust.
And so it was wonderful to have to opportunity on Saturday 8th February to partner again with Foyer Sud. Last year, we sent a big team of Serve the City volunteers to redecorate their kitchen and living rooms. This time our team of volunteers were there to pamper and spoil these wonderful women, while we cared for their kids upstairs.
Setting up in their bright dining room, our volunteers worked together with the residents to make home made sugar and honey hand scrubs, which we then used to give each other luxury hand massages followed by manicures! Our hands taken care of, we also gave the women makeovers, showing them how to apply foundation, blusher and eye make-up.
The women who live at Foyer Sud were proud hostesses for the afternoon, baking us a delicious array of cakes and treats – our volunteers were almost more spoilt than the residents!
Upstairs, our volunteers made sock puppets and Valentine’s Day cards with the children and played games together. They enjoyed the extra attention and the chance to do something creative and fun.
These families have more struggles than many of us have had to experience, but that afternoon we got to give them a time of relaxation and fun, to remind them they are worth spoiling, and oh so beautiful.
A huge thank you to the staff of Foyer Sud who invited us and helped us make the afternoon such a success!

A note: We do not have photos to share from this project, as we are keen to protect the privacy and confidentiality of the residents. You’ll have to use your imagination to see all the smiling faces!
