New Board Members: Leaders in Service

After celebrating 10 years in 2023 and achieving public utility status, 2024 marks a new stage in the development of our charity. Serve the City Luxembourg is pleased to announce the appointment of the new board members, dedicated individuals who embody our values of service, compassion and community.

As Nicolas Duprey, its Director, points out, ‘in recent years, Serve The City has achieved much more than just a status, we have initiated a change of scale’. With increased professionalism and trusted partners, the association’s long-term future is now assured.  Serve The City now has ‘a real direction, a proven model and a solid team’. Florent Brunet, the association’s Treasurer, adds: ‘The human and financial investments made in recent years have paid off and are now able to support the growth of the association in Luxembourg’.

With this new scope, 2024 is therefore the year of organisational change, considered by its Director as ‘essential to meet the most stringent compliance standards, but also to strengthen our operational efficiency’. The new Board is nonetheless part of a certain continuity. Sonia Casteran, who previously held the role of Secretary and who has just been elected Chairman, highlights the good fortune of ‘being able to count on members with a proven track record, as well as on the contribution of new skills and expertise, an essential combination for the future development of our association!

Board Member Introductions:

  • President: Sonia Casteran

My priority is to strengthen our structure and partnerships for the benefit of the volunteer community, to ensure sustainable, impact-driven growth. I want Serve the City Luxembourg to continue to be a driving force for social inclusion and mutual aid in our society.’

Sonia is a Franco-Luxembourgish who graduated from Sciences Po and holds a Master’s degree in international business. She moved to Luxembourg in 2010 after several rewarding professional experiences abroad in logistics and sales. She now works in the construction sector as a marketing and sales project manager. She held the position of Secretary of the association since 2020, and has been instrumental in developing activities aimed at the younger generation.

  • Vice-President: Giulia Poto

I am keen to promote innovation in our initiatives and to support the Chair in achieving our mission. Together, we can create service opportunities that will transform people’s lives and strengthen Luxembourg’s social fabric.’

Giulia is originally from Italy and has already extensive experience in international groups. She has worked in the fields of human resources, consumer behaviour and marketing. She now holds the role of Global Brand Manager in the headquarters of an Italian multinational company. At Serve The City, she is now in charge of the key areas of growth and development, both in terms of the HR aspects linked to the growing community of volunteers and in terms of strategy and projects.

  • Treasurer: Florent Brunet

Rigorous and transparent financial management is essential to support the development of our organisation and maximise its impact on the ground. I am determined to ensure that every euro is used to support our mission of community service.’

French, Florent joined Luxembourg in 2015 after various experiences in Paris. With legal background, he worked in legal publishing and as a tax advisor before moving into the investment fund industry. He has been the association’s treasurer since 2020 and now oversees the human resources, legal and financial aspects of Serve the City Luxembourg. Like the other members of the board, he is also present in the field as team leader.

  • Secretary: Sonal Sharma

More than ever, good internal and external communication is key to the success of impact organisations. It enables them to work smoothly and effectively with their teams, but also to promote the culture of volunteering in Luxembourg beyond traditional audiences.’

Sonal is originally from India and worked for several years in IT consulting in Asia and Europe. She is now a quality analyst in an IT software company. She has always been very involved in community work. This has enabled her to share the expertise she has acquired with a well-known NGO in the fight against hunger in India. She has worked as a Social Media Manager for Serve The City since 2022 and initiated the association’s digital strategy to promote a culture of volunteering and inclusion in Luxembourg.
