Christmas is the time of year when we can take time to refocus on what really matters. Let’s enjoy the simple joy of being with the family and celebrating together. But let’s not forget those who will not be so fortunate and will spend Christmas away from their loved ones. Surely Christmas will not have the same taste everywhere and perhaps we could draw inspiration from beautiful traditions, like in Lithuania or in Poland, where people used to leave a spare seat for the poor. We too should not hesitate to add a plate for Christmas Eve, even symbolically, for those in need. So many people in our cities are still too often isolated at Christmas time. We would like also to thank our volunteers who will be mobilise on Christmas and New Year’s Eve towards the most vulnerable and distribute hot drinks, some Christmas treats, warm clothes and share a bit of time with our friends on the street.

Let’s stand with those in need during the holiday season. Merry Christmas,

Serve the City
