Transforming the Shelter into a Beach Paradise: A Day of Joy for the Children

Life in the shelter can be challenging, especially for children who often face long waits with their families while navigating the refugee process in Luxembourg. To bring some much-needed happiness to their lives, organized a special day that transformed the shelter’s patio into a mini beach, complete with sand, games, and endless smiles. This outdoor activity, launched by Serve the City, was available throughout the entire summer holiday, ensuring the children have ongoing opportunities for fun and relaxation.

A Slice of Summer

For a few precious hours, the children were able to leave their worries behind and simply enjoy being kids. They built sandcastles, played in the sand, and took part in fun games like toss and catch. It was a moment of pure summer joy brought directly to them in the shelter.

A Welcome Break from Routine

These children often face repetitive days inside the shelter, so this event provided a much-needed break from their usual routine. With the beach setup available all summer, they’ll continue to experience the joy and freedom of summer, right where they are. At the end of each activity, we wrap up with a small summer party, and this one was especially amazing, with refreshing drinks and delicious snacks to complete the day.
